The newly opened route Mardi Himal Trek is a good alternative to escape away from crowded trek offering a stunning views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Macchapuchre and Manaslu ranges. Mardi Himal Trekking is an enjoyable trekking route which requires minimum effort. Mardi Himal Trek is about a week long trip in the Himalayas with stunning views of snowy peaks through small Nepali villages. It is an interesting trek compared to other popular treks in the Annapurna region.

Day 1: Arrival. Transfer to the hotel. Evening, welcome dinner.
Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative. We’ll transfer you to a charming hotel in Thamel, where twinkling fairy lights and rooftop mountain views create the perfect first impression of Nepal. In the evening, get ready for a feast! We’ll take you to a local restaurant where you’ll taste your first plate of authentic flavors of Nepal.

Day 2: Trek Briefing. Visit Pashupatinath and Boudhanath Stupa.
Today, we will have detailed trek briefing in presence of your trek guide. You can ask any questions you might have. After that, you will have free time to explore the city on your own. Here are some best options to consider:

Explore around Thamel – a colorful tourist hub of Nepal. You will spot numbers of hotels, money exchange, hotels, shops to buy all kinds of souvenirs, trekking gears, etc and many restaurants to chose from offering both Western and local Nepali cuisines.
Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is a great place to start your exploration, where you will walk(about 10-15 min) through narrow alleyways teeming with small shops, temples, and local restaurants.
If you want to stretch your legs, Swoyambhunath, the white stupa rising above the valley, is the perfect spot to catch the sunset over the valley. You can also take a cab which is approximately about 15 minutes drive from Thamel if you are too tired to walk.
Visit the Garden of dreams, which is a classical historical garden located at Thamel(about 5-10 min walk) with an exquisite ensemble of pavilions, fountains, decorative garden furniture, and beautiful flowers and trees.

Day 3: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Transfer to the hotel.
Transfer to Kathmandu airport one hour before your flight to Pokhara. Upon arrival at Pokhara airport, you will be received by our representative and transfer to the hotel.

You will have some free time to explore around lakeside Pokhara. You can go for an boat ride at Phewa Lake. You can also visit beautiful Barahi temple which is located at the center of Phewa lake.

Day 4: Drive from Pokhara to Kande( (about 1hrs) & trek to Pothana (1950 m /3-4 hrs)
Kande is on the top of a hill near Pokhara offers some views of Himalayas. From here we will start our trek approaching Pothana. The trail is enjoyable throughout the villages. We will have some views of villages in the horizon. Overnight at Pothana.

Day 5: Trek from Pothana to Forest Camp (2500 m / 6-7 hrs)
Today the trail is mostly inside the green forests of oak, maple, hemlock and rhododendron. The section includes some ups and downs while reaching Forest Camp, a small village with few guest houses. Forest camp is known as Kokar among local people. It is a bit difficult walk from Pitam Deurali to Forest camp. Overnight at Forest Camp.

Day 6: Trek from Forest Camp to Low Camp (2990 m / 3-4 hrs)
We will have to walk inside the forest for another day but as we reach higher the vegetation changes with more rhododendron trees. This is another pleasant day for us letting us walk in the peaceful route. The trail is steep at the beginning however changes to gradual climbing after awhile. We will have some random views of snowy Himalayan peaks. The views of Machhapuchhre peak is superb from Low Camp. This is very small places with only couple of lodges opened for providing basic meals and accommodation to trekkers. Overnight at Low Camp

Day 7: Trek from Low Camp to High Camp (3580 m / 3-4 hrs)

We have another pleasant walking here with stunning views of close Himalayas in front of us. As we climb higher the route also becomes open and spacious as there is no forest anymore. The trail continues through grasslands of high region with occasional rhododendron trees. Spotting the beautiful bird called Himalayan Monal; also known as the impeyan monal, impeyan pheasant and danphe in Nepali is easy around here. This is a colorful Himalayan bird represented as the national bird of Nepal. Overnight at high camp.

Day 8: Hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4450 m), back to High Camp (6-7 Hours)
We will wake up early in the morning before the sun rises. The plan is to watch sunrise over the Himalayas. We will then return back to lodge where we will be served with our breakfast. We have time to rest before we start hiking up to the upper view point for magnificent views of close Himalayan peaks. The trail heading to Upper View Point is well marked through the grassland involves few steep sections. In overall this is moderate walk, not too easy and not too challenging as well. In summer season this area is full of yaks and sheep along with several yak herder’s huts. Overnight at High Camp.

Day 9: Trek from High Camp to Siding Village (5-6 hrs). Drive back to Pokhara
After breakfast, today journey start an unhurried descent through the shade of the forest and out on to the terraced fields, down 1600m. This is a different route down to the upper Mardi Khola. Here, as we make our way along the banks of the Mardi Khola from the hill-side village of Siding, down through the lovely fields, passing the simple farms and over the interesting suspension bridges. After lunch at Siding village, we will prepare to drive back to Pokhara after wonderful memories in the himalayas. Overnight at Pokhara.

Day 10: Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu (25 min). Transfer to Patan
Transfer to the airport one hour before your flight . Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, you will be received by our representative and transfer to Patan where you will be staying in unique traditional style accommodation.

Patan is the best place in the Kathmandu Valley to enjoy the walk and observe artisans at work. The town is full of traditional Newari craftspeople, so you can find craftsmen doing Buddhist thangka paintings, metal statues making, all kinds of jewelry, and brass and copper crafts.

Some of the best places to visit around Patan are Patan Durbar Square, Patan Museum , Golden Temple, Kumari -the living goddess of Patan, Mahaboudha temple, which are all walking distance from your hotel .

Day 11: Transfer to the airport. Departure
It’s time to bid Nepal farewell visit and appreciate your visit to our country Nepal.  On departure day, we’ll ensure you get to the airport with plenty of time – though most travelers wish they could stay just one more day in this magical country that has somehow become part of them. Hopefully we shall meet again.
