Tilicho Lake is known for the highest lake in the world which is located in Manang District of Nepal in the Annapurna range. Tilicho Lake is also famous for the religious point of view. Day 1:

Arrival day in Kathmandu- D
Welcome to Nepal. At your arrival in Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, Himalayan Namobuddha Travel and Treks’ representative will be there to welcome you. The representative will help you to check in your hotel rooms. In the hotel, you will be briefed about your activities during the trip. Overnight in the hotel in Kathmandu.

 

Day 2: Trek Briefing. Visit Pashupatinath and Boudhanath Stupa.

Detailed trek briefing at your hotel in presence of your trek guide. You can ask any questions you might have. Today, you will enjoy a guided Kathmandu tour of popular UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Nepal: Boudhanath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple. Today, you will get to know many interesting facts and stories about Hindu and Buddhist culture, history and the people of Nepal from your local tour guide. You can take your own time as you like at each temple to explore around and asking the questions to your tour guide (this is a private tour just for you) for spending your time in Kathmandu.

Boudhanath Stupa is one of the most popular UNESCO world heritage sites located about 11 km from the center and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu. The stupa is massive mandala and it is one of the largest unique structure’s stupas in the world with a long history. It is the center of Tibetan culture in Kathmandu and rich in Buddhist symbolism.
Pashupatinath Temple is a famous and sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located on the banks of the Bagmati River, approximately 5 km north-east of Kathmandu dedicated to Shiva. You will see many Sadhu monks and the cremations taking place across the holy river of this temple.

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (830m / 7- 8 hrs)

The first day of our journey begins with drive enjoying the natural beauty of forest, rivers and farms. Our journey passes through Trishuli, Mugling , Pokhara, Dumre and then north to Besisahar from drive. Overnight in Besisahar.

 

Day 4: Trek from Besisahar to Bahundanda (1310m) (6-7 hrs)

First day of our walk involves crossing a few suspension bridges, waterfalls, several ups and downs hill sections, across rice paddies and subtropical forest. The villages and people are an interesting mix. We eventually ascend to Bahundanda. Overnight in Bahundanda.

 

Day 5: Trek from Bahundanda to Chamje(1560m) (5-6 hrs)

Leaving Bahundanda a large waterfall may be seen. Crossing the Marsyangdi River on a suspension bridge. We then follow the river to the stone village of Jagat before climbing through forest to Chamje. Overnight in Chamje.

 

Day 6: Trek from Chamje to Bagarchhap (2160 m) (5-6 hrs)

Our day begins with the rocky trail following the Marsyandi Rivers steadily uphill to Tal, the first village in the Manang district. We make a trail verse crossing a wide, flat valley. The journey continues up and down to Dharapani. A stone entrance chorten typical of the Tibetan influenced villages. Upon reaching Bagarchhap the typical flat roofed stone houses of local Tibetans design along with the village surrounded by apple Orchards and maize fields. Overnight in Bagarchhap.

 

Day 7: Trek from Bagarchhap to Chame (2725m) (5-6 hrs)

The trail climbs to Tyanja, then continuing through forest, but near the river, to Kopar. As we reach the Chame, the headquarters of the Manang district, we are rewarded by the fine views of Annapurna II as we approach Chame & two small hot springs by the town. Along this route we are introduced to a local community said to have migrated from Tibet a long time past, noticeable by their different features. With them, they have bought local Tibetan house designs and maintained their ways. Overnight in Chame.

 

Day 8: Trek from Chhame to Pisang (3190m) (4-5 hrs)

The trail passes a steep and narrow path while heading towards the trail. We then cross the river through suspension bridges again and again before reaching Pisang. After reaching Pisang we can visit Pisang’s monastery. Overnight in Pisang.

 

Day 9: Trek from Pisang to Manang (3500m) (5-6 hrs)

The trail passes through the valley floor from Hungde village. Enjoying the superb views of Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Gangapurna our trail reaches to Khausar village through pine forest. Khausar village is a Gurung village where we can see monastery, chortens, Mani wall and prayer flags on the way. Overnight in Manang.

 

Day 10: Acclimatization Day in Manang

The day is the acclimatization day for us. We can explore the Manang village with its traditional unique culture and lifestyle of people. We can have a beautiful view of natural greenery, mountains and Monastries. Hiking to Gangapurna or Melaripa cave could be option for us to acclimatization. Overnight in Manang.

 

Day 11: Trek from Manang to Khangsar Village (3700m) (4-5 hrs)

After acclimatized at Manang we continue our adventure for Tilicho Lake, from Manang one heads out through the western gates and then one follows the path down to the river. After crossing the Khangsar Khola on the bridge below Khangsar and ascend the slope to the village, a village still in the old Tibetan style and which is also known as last village of Nepal. Overnight in Khangsar.

 

Day 12: Trek from Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp (4525m) (5-6 hrs)

Today the trail goes on a recently constructed path up towards a high ridge. One path maintains the altitude, traversing the slopes towards a place where the valley is narrow; the other continues to ascend towards the line of the ridge. The former is the old path, and is much more difficult as it goes on really steep screed; the latter is the new path that goes a completely different way. Continue along the new path, reach a high crest, and descend on switch backs carved out through the screed slopes to a side valley of the main valley. At its bottom is a brook. On the other side of it is a building known as Tilicho Base Camp . Overnight at lodge in Tilicho Base Camp.

 

Day 13: Trek from Tilicho Base Camp to Tilicho Lake (4910m) and back down to Tilicho Base Camp (6-7 hrs)

Today our journey starts quite early in the morning as we trying to avoid the wind. Tilicho Lake is a cold barren place in the afternoon and claimed as highest lake of the world. After we spend some time around Tilicho Lake we will return same way back to Base Camp as there are no any accommodation facilities at Tilicho Lake area. Overnight at lodge in Tilicho Base Camp.

 

Day 14: Trek from Tilicho Base Camp to Yak Kharka (4090m) (4-5 hrs)

Today after returning from Base camp we can keep high and follow a track above Khangsar village passing through the ruins of old Khangsar and follow an unmarked trail which will lead you around and down to cross the river on an old log bridge between Gumsang and Yak Kharka. Overnight at Yak Kharka.

 

Day 15: Trek from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4441m) (5-6 hrs)

Today, the trail descends to cross the river we then climb up to Thorong Phedi where we have recently found some good Guesthouses built. Overnight at Thorong Phedi.

 

Day 16: Trek from Thorang Phedi to Muktinath (3800m) via Thorong La (5416m) (5-6 hrs)

Today, we will start our trail early in the morning. We will pass through the high pass Thorong La. It will be unforgettable high icy altitude trail from where we can observe magnificent view of Gangapurna, Annapurna, Thorang peak etc. Then our trail ascends and descends towards Holy temple for both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims, Muktinath. Overnight in Muktinath.

 

Day 17: Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom (2720m / 5-6 hrs)

We can reach Jomsom from both, Lupre or Kagbeni route. We will follow the Kali Gandaki River with a strong windy and cold valley to reach Jomsom. We will found wet hills on the way. Overnight in Jomsom.

 

Day 18: Flight from Jomsom to Pokhara (30 mins). Transfer to the hotel

Today as per our flight schedule we will take a short flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. Overnight in lakeside, Pokhara.

 

Day 19: Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Transfer to Patan

Transfer to the airport one hour before your flight . Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, you will be received by our representative and transfer to your hotel in Patan. 

 
Patan is the best place in the Kathmandu Valley to enjoy the walk and observe artisans at work. The town is full of traditional Newari craftspeople, so you can find craftsmen doing Buddhist thangka paintings, metal statues making, all kinds of jewelry, and brass and copper crafts.
 
Some of the best places to visit around Patan are Patan Durbar Square, Patan Museum , Golden Temple,  Kumari -the living goddess of Patan, Mahaboudha temple, which are all walking distance from your hotel .

Day 20: Free day to explore around the city

This day you will have free day on your own to explore around the city or do some last minute shopping.

Day 21: Transfer to the airport. Departure

Today is your departure day. Himalayan Namobuddha’s representative will drop you to Airport 3 hours before scheduled flight. It’s time to bid Nepal farewell visit and appreciate your visit to our country Nepal. Hopefully we shall meet again.
