Khopra Danda Trekking

Khopra Trek is a fantastic trek, which is also an off the beaten trekking trail in Annapurna Region of Nepal. The Khayer lake is the major attraction of this trekking as Khopra trek is also called Khayar lake trek. So, it’s the best trip for those who wants to avoid the crowd and enjoy the beautiful nature and mountains . Most of the land is covered by dense forest and grass land. The whole Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountain range can be seen from Bailey on the way of trekking trail.

Day 1: Arrival. Transfer to the hotel. Evening, welcome dinner.

Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and transfer to your hotel at Thamel, Kathmandu by private car. In the evening, you will be taken for welcome dinner in one of the authentic Nepali restaurant.Depending upon your arrival time, you can also have a few options for activities. You can relax at the hotel or go out and explore the city on your own or with an English speaking guide (optional add on). Here are some best options to consider:

Explore around Thamel – a colorful tourist hub of Nepal. You will spot numbers of hotels, money exchange, hotels, shops for trekking gears, etc and many restaurants to chose from offering both Western and local Nepali cuisines.
Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is a great place to start your exploration. You can follow narrow alleyways teeming with small shops, ancient temples, and local restaurants. 
If you want to stretch your legs, Swayambhunath, the white stupa rising above the valley, is the perfect spot to catch the sunset over the valley. You can also take a cab which is approximately about 15 minutes drive from Thamel if you are too tired to walk. 
Visit the Garden of dreams, which is a classical historical garden located at Thamel(about 5-10 min walk). It is an exquisite ensemble of pavilions, fountains, decorative garden furniture, and beautiful flowers and trees.

Day 2: Trek Briefing. Visit Pashupatinath and Boudhanath Stupa.

Detailed trek briefing at your hotel in presence of your trek guide. You can ask any questions you might have. Today, you will enjoy a guided Kathmandu tour of popular UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Nepal: Boudhanath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple. Today, you will get to know many interesting facts and stories about Hindu and Buddhist culture, history and the people of Nepal from your local tour guide. You can take your own time as you like at each temple to explore around and asking the questions to your tour guide (this is a private tour just for you) for spending your time in Kathmandu.

Boudhanath Stupa is one of the most popular UNESCO world heritage sites located about 11 km from the center and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu. The stupa is massive mandala and it is one of the largest unique structure’s stupas in the world with a long history. It is the center of Tibetan culture in Kathmandu and rich in Buddhist symbolism.
Pashupatinath Temple is a famous and sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located on the banks of the Bagmati River, approximately 5 km north-east of Kathmandu dedicated to Shiva. You will see many Sadhu monks and the cremations taking place across the holy river of this temple.

Day 3: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (25 min) Transfer to the hotel

Transfer to Kathmandu airport one hour before your flight to Pokhara. Upon arrival at Pokhara airport, you will be received by our representative and transfer to the hotel.

You will have some free time to explore around lakeside Pokhara. You can go for an boat ride at Phewa Lake. You can also visit beautiful Barahi temple which is located at the center of Phewa lake.

Depending upon your free time and interests you can also visit some of the famous places around Pokhara like Davi’s fall, International mountain museum, Bindabasini temple , Gupteswor cave etc.

Day 4: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (1- 1.5 hr) Trek to Ghandruk (1940m / 5-6 hrs)

We drive to Nayapul from Pokhara, it will take about one hour. Then we will trek from Nayapul to Ghandruk village. Following the Modi Khola, cross the river in Birethanti,to follow Modi Khola valley passing Sauly Bazaar then we climb up steps and continue to walk . You will explore Ghandruk village with vibrant Buddhist monasteries and houses made of slate and stones with beautiful mountain views and rich in Gurung traditions.Overnight at Ghandruk

 

Day 5: Trek from Ghandruk to Tadapani (2675m / about 4 hrs)

We leave the terraced hillsides and the village of Ghandruk behind and trek through rhododendron and oak forest. There are no villages on this route, but there are a few teahouses at the place called Baisi Kharkha to rest. We will get to see awe inspiring views of Machhapuchhare (6993m),Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna South (7237m), and Lamjung Himal (6931m) along the way. Overnight at Tadapani

 

Day 6: Trek from Tadapani to Bayeli Kharka (3450m / 5-6 hrs)

From Tadapani we walk through the forest of rhododendrons and Primula.then after gradual climb we reach above the timberline with amazing views of the Annapurna .Continuing through the open countryside to reach a small pass from here the trail descends through rhododendron to a clearing known as Bayli Kharka, and the lodge.From the village, we can enjoy superb views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, the seventh highest mountain in the world,Overnight at Bayeli Kharka.

 

Day 7: Trek from Bayli Kharka to Khopra Danda (3660m / 5-6 hrs)

From Bayli Kharka we will descend through forests to reach the pastures of Chistibang . From Chistibang we ascend above the timberlines to reach the ridge at Khopra,You might get to see Himalayan tahr and Danfe pheasant on the way.On top we will see amazing views on all sides of Dhaulagiri, Damphus Peak, Tukuche Peak,Nilgiri, Annapurna 1, Annapurna South and deep down Sikha. Overnight at Khopra Danda.

 

Day 8: Acclimatization Day

Today you can do optional hike to the beautiful Khayer lake that lies in the lap of Annapurna South. It is about total 8 -9 hours hike to this serene lake situated at an altitude of 4600m. Reaching there we experience the high alpine and enjoy the beautiful landscape. Overnight at Khopra Danda

 

Day 9: Trek from Khopra Danda to Tatopani (2000 m/ 5-6 hrs)

Today we will descend further down toward Tatopani that lies on ending point of Annapurna Circuit and offer excellent hot water ponds where one can soaks in natural hot water ponds. It’s perfect place for recreational stuffs like getting fresh, hot shower and perfect foods too. Overnight at Tatopani.

 

Day 10: Drive from Tatopani to Pokhara (5- 6 hrs)

Early in the morning we take a jeep from Tatopani and head toward the Pokhara. Enjoying the beautiful landscape and village we reach to Pokhara. Overnight at lakeside, Pokhara.

 

Day 11: Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu (25 min). Transfer to Patan

Transfer to Pokhara airport one hour before your flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, you will be received by our representative and transfer to your hotel in Patan- city of fine arts & architecture.

Patan is the best place in the Kathmandu Valley to enjoy the walk and observe artisans at work. The town is full of traditional Newari craftspeople, so you can find craftsmen doing Buddhist thangka paintings, metal statues making, all kinds of jewelry, and brass and copper crafts.

Some of the best places to visit around Patan are Patan Durbar Square, Patan Museum , Golden Temple, Kumari -the living goddess of Patan, Mahaboudha temple, which are all walking distance from your hotel .

Day 12: Free day to explore around city

Day 13: Transfer to the airport. Departure

Today is your departure day. Himalayan Namobuddha’s representative will drop you to Airport 3 hours before scheduled flight. It’s time to bid Nepal farewell visit and appreciate your visit to our country Nepal. Hopefully we shall meet again.

After breakfast in the hotel, we do sightseeing around Kathmandu City. We start our day trip from Thamel, this is the famous tourist street of Kathmandu city. You can shop your needy equipments, then to the famous historical place Kathmandu Durbar Square along with tour of local market and local lifestyle of Nepal. And then we will be visiting Patan Durbar Square and living goddess of Nepal – KUMARI of Patan. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
