Drive from Nyalam to Shigatse (4,350 m)

Today’s drive takes us from the lush, green lower hills into the dry, arid landscape of the Tibetan Plateau. We cross several high passes including the Lalung La (5050m) from which, there is a breathtaking panorama of the Himalayan range including Mt Everest – a fitting backdrop to the vastness of the Tibetan Plateau. Continuing along the Friendship Highway, we pass by lonely monasteries and the camps of nomadic herders. We then cross the highest pass of our journey, the Gyamtso La (5220m) before descending once more to the barren splendor of the plains. Overnight at hotel in Shigatse

Drive from Shigatse to Gyantse (3,950m.)

Early morning,  we will visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery – one of Tibet’s highlights and is Shigatse’s foremost attraction, after visiting Tashi Lumpo Monastery and the local market place at Shigatse , we drive to Gyantse. Gyantse is a small bustling town situated on the northern bank of Nyang Chu River which lies in the southwest of Lhasa, the final destination Once in Gyantse, we can explore the Pelkor Chode Monastery and the Gyantse Kumbum. The Kumbum is a large gold-domed stupa and its many chapels house an impressive array of Tibetan Buddhist murals. Overnight at hotel in Gyantse.

Drive to Lhasa via Yamdrok lake (3650m.)

We will cross two high passes the Karo La (5045m) where we are treated to the awesome sight of a huge glacier tumbling down to within a few hundred meters of the road. Beyond the small, developing town of Nagartse, the road follows the bank of a beautiful Yamdrok-tso (turquoise lake). We then cross the Khamba La (4794m) and continue to Lhasa passing through the famous Brahmaputra River.

Visit Potala Palace, Jokhang temple & Barkhor Market

Today will be spent visiting several Lhasa’s monasteries, Potala Palace, Norbulinka Palace, Jorkhang and surrounding Barkhor market.

Interesting Fact-  Potala Palace is one of the most popular highlight that is  set high on Red Hill, summer palace of the Dalai Lama until 1959.  Another most sacred temple in Lhasa is the Lokhang, where people come from all over Tibet to pray in this spiritual heart of the country.

After lunch we will visit the Norbulingka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama, as well as the Jokhang Temple – the center of the Tibetan Buddhism and the sacred land of Buddhist followers where innumerable pilgrims come for worship every day. Surrounding the Jokhang is the Barko the bustling Barkhor Market place which is the religious and social focus of Lhasa. Overnight at hotel in Lhasa.

Visit Drepung Monastery & Sera Monastery

This day we will visit Sera monastery, which was created in 1419, is one of the most important Buddhist seminary. As rose are planted everywhere in the monastery, it is also called “the court of wild rose”. Today still 200 lamas live in there. After that, visit to the Drepung Monastery –  one of the largest monastery in the world will complete a truly awe- inspiring day. This monastery was founded in the 14th century . Drive to airport (about 2 hrs) and Fly to Kathmandu

Today is your departure day.  You will be dropped by our representative to the airport 3 hours before schedule flight. It’s time to ay bid farewell to Tibet.
