Jiri Everest Base Camp

This Jiri Everest Base Camp trek enables to experience many traditional aspects of culture and local people. The trail passes through numerous villages of different ethnic groups including Tamang, Jirel, Rai, Brahmin, Chettri and of course the Sherpa merging the Everest Base Camp Trek. Everest Base Camp (EBC) trekking is one of the most extraordinary adventures in the World- the trek path to the lap of Mount Everest (5545m) located at the eastern half on Nepal. It’s an interesting and adventurous trek which offers a wide range of trekking experiences and enjoyment with the thrills and chills of mountain climbing. In comparison to the all Himalayas, EBC had been visited by thousand of trekkers in every year. The EBC is the land of the Himalaya offers extremely fantastic views of different mountains, Buddhist Monasteries, varieties of flora and fauna, a closer look to the Sherpa culture and beautiful sight seeing which would obviously make the trek more enjoyable.

Day 1: Arrival. Transfer to the hotel. Evening, welcome dinner.

Welcome to Nepal. At your arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Himalayan Namobuddha Travel and Treks’ representative will be there to welcome you and transfer to the hotel. In the evening, you will be taken for a welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepali restaurant. Overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 2: Trek Briefing. Free Day in Kathmandu.

Today, we will have detailed trek briefing in presence of your trek guide. After that, you will have free time to explore the city on your own. Here are some best options to consider:

Explore around Thamel – a colorful tourist hub of Nepal. You will spot numbers of hotels, money exchange, hotels, shops to buy all kinds of souvenirs, trekking gears, etc and many restaurants to chose from offering both Western and local Nepali cuisines.
Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is a great place to start your exploration, where you will walk(about 10-15 min) through narrow alleyways teeming with small shops, temples, and local restaurants.
If you want to stretch your legs, Swoyambhunath, the white stupa rising above the valley, is the perfect spot to catch the sunset over the valley. You can also take a cab which is approximately about 15 minutes drive from Thamel if you are too tired to walk.
Visit the Garden of dreams, which is a classical historical garden located at Thamel(about 5-10 min walk) with an exquisite ensemble of pavilions, fountains, decorative garden furniture, and beautiful flowers and trees.

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Jiri (2,370m / 7-8 hrs)

This morning we leave Kathmandu and head towards Jiri through the beautiful Nepalese countryside. Jiri is big town and also a hill station, explore the surrounding area and overnight at Jiri.

 

Day 4: Trek from Jiri to Bhandar (2,190m / 5-6 hrs)

Today we start our adventurous trek and this trails offers us beautiful country side scenery from each ridge top and we passing through friendly villagers and farm fields. We pass many down hills and uphills till reach to a small settlement at Bhandar. You can enjoy the remaining day exploring the local villages. Overnight at Bhandar.

 

Day 5: Trek from Bhandar to Sete (2,575m / 4-5 hrs)

After breakfast we start our trek descending hill at Likhu Khola, after crossing the bridge, the winding path leads us to a small nice village at Kinja. After lunch a slow long up hill climb continues passing through numerous farm houses and terrace fields with great excellent views of the surrounding landscapes and distance villages and after few hours of long haul, finally reaching at Sete, a small Sherpa village situated on the ridge in the middle of the rhododendron forest. Overnight at Sete.

 

Day 6: Trek from Sete to Lamjura pass (3,530m) to Junbesi (2,680m / 6-7 hrs)

Today the trail leads to a gradual climb passing through few small scattered farm houses and teahouses through the beautiful rhododendron forest, reaching at Lamjura Pass, which is the highest point between Jiri and Namche Bazaar. The trail then descends through the forest and emerges after one and half hrs at Taktor. Traverse on the north side of the valley round a notch before dropping down to the Sherpa village of Junbesi. Overnight at Junbesi.

 

Day 7: Rest day at Junbesi (2,680m)

The region around Junbesi is well worth exploring and a day spent here can offer a variety of alternatives. Two hours’ walk to the north of Junbesi is the village of Phugmochhe, where there is a traditional Sherpa art centre. En-route to Phugmochhe a short diversion will allow a visit to Thubten Chhuling, a huge Tibetan Buddhist monastery about one and half hour’s walk from Junbesi or relax whole day exploring around with overnight at Junbesi.

 

Day 8: Trek from Junbesi to Nunthala (2,330m / 5-6 hrs)

Below Junbesi the trail crosses the Junbesi Khola on a wooden bridge. Just beyond the bridge there is a trail junction. The route to Khumbu follows the left-hand trail that leads uphill. This trail turns north, descending through Salung. From here, Mt. Everest can be seen on a clear day towards north east. We follow the shepherds’ huts and the hidden route in dense forest with several picturesque streams on wooden bridges just before reaching Nunthala (Mani dingma). Overnight at Nunthala.

 

Day 9: Trek from Nunthala to Bupsa (2,360m / 5-6 hrs)

After breakfast we start our trail descending for the most part of the trek. We cross a bridge over the Dudh Koshi River and climb up for a little over an hour. The trail passes through Khari Khola village and the scenery starts to get more picturesque. We trek through a beautiful rhododendron forest before reaching Bupsa. Overnight at Bupsa.

 

Day 10: Trek from Bupsa to Chaurikharka (2,650m / 6-7 hrs)

Today the trail climbs up a ridge. We walk on the ridge and climb another ridge. Next, we cross a deep gorge with a great view of a waterfall and begin ascending to Chaurikharka. It is a wonderful small village with fields of barley, wheat and a few green vegetables. The village also houses a Buddhist monastery. Overnight in Chaurikhara.

 

Day 11: Trek from Chaurikharka to Monjo (2,840m / 4-5 hrs)

Today we cross a bridge over the Chheplung Khola (stream). We continue our trek on a trail alongside the Dudh Koshi River. On our way to Monjo, we also pass through a few villages, rhododendron and magnolia forests and Buddhist monasteries. We also cross Dudh Koshi River and its tributaries several times before reaching Monjo. Overnight at Monjo.

 

Day 12: Trek from Monjo to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m/ 3-4 hrs)

After leaving Monjo we enter the Sagarmatha National Park. We continue walking on the trail alongside the Dudh Koshi River and pass a chorten on the way before reaching Namche Bazaar. The traditional Sherpa village is one of the busiest villages in the Khumbu region with government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, and a colorful market. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

 

Day 13: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

All over the day we will explore the Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Everest and a busy bustling market. From Thame / Khunde we can enjoy views of Mt. Everest and other Peaks with Sherpa Culture. We will hike to Khumjung village and come back to Namche Bazaar. Stay overnight at Namche.

 

Day 14: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3870m / 5-6 hrs)

Today the trail leads gradually up and down up to Tengboche enjoying the views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Thamserku. Tengboche has the biggest and famous Buddhist Monasteries all over the Khumbu region. Overnight at Tengboche.

 

Day 15: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4360m / 5-6 hrs)

Today we will have a great view of Pangboche village on the way our trail to Periche. The walk is fairly moderate when we enter at Imja Village. We will pass through River Lobuche and begins steepest climb to Dingboche. Overnight at Dingboche.

 

Day 16: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (4940m / 4-5 hrs)

Today the trial leads the bottom of the hill, after crossing a small bridge we reach Duglha where we will enjoy a great view of Mt Pumori (7138m) and other peaks. After 2-4 hrs treks beyond Duglha we climb up towards Khumbu Glacier where we will find an array of stones with prayer flags used as memory of past Sherpa’s. Overnight at Lobuche.

 

Day 17: Trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep (5170m) & Everest Base Camp (5364m / 7-8 hrs)

Today the trail continues gaining the high altitudes up to Gorakshep and after reaching there we transfer in the lodges then we will hike through rocky and glacial trail up to Everest Base Camp. When the wonderful Everest Base Camp will be reached we will enjoy the close view of Mt. Nuptse, Mt Khumbuste and Mt. Pumori. After enjoying adequate in Everest Base Camp we will return back same way to Gorakshep. Overnight at Gorakshep.

 

Day 18: Trek from Gorak Shep to Kalapatthar (5545 m) to Periche (4208m / 7-8 hrs)

Early wake up in the morning to climb up to Kalapatthar where we can see astonishing sunrise view. We will have a stunning panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Pumori and Mt. Ama Dablam. Then we will hike back to Gorakshep for breakfast and then descend down to Periche. Overnight at Periche.

 

Day 19: Trek from Periche to Pangboche to Tengboche to Namche Bazaar (6-7 hrs)

Today the trail drops with a beautiful view of rhododendron flowers and juniper trees through Pangboche village. As the trail continues to descend we reach Dudhkoshi River then we walk smoothly to Kyungjung. After that with an easy walk we will reach the Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

 

Day 20: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (6-7 hrs)

T0day the trial drops steep down, as we walk continually we will reach the fast flowing Dudh Koshi River and crosses the suspension bridge. We walk the same routes but we will have different ultimate feeling in easy and natural walks. Overnight at Lukla.

 

Day 21: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu (30 min). Transfer to the hotel

After breakfast we will take a flight from Lukla airport to Kathmandu. As we reach Kathmandu and finish all our airport formalities, you will be transfer in the hotel. At free time you can relax or walk around to buy some gifts for your friends or loved one from Nepal. Overnight at Kathmandu.

 

Day 22: Free day in Kathmandu

Today, you will have free time to explore the city on your own. Here are some best options to consider:

Day 23: Transfer to the airport. Departure

Today is your departure day. Himalayan Namobuddha’s representative will drop you to Airport 3 hours before scheduled flight. It’s time to bid Nepal farewell visit and appreciate your visit to our country Nepal. Hopefully we shall meet again.
