Gosainkunda Trek

Gosainkunda Trek is an adventurous trekking journey that took place in Dhunche – Helambu trekking route. Gosainkunda means an alpine fresh water oligotrophic lake suitated in Langtang National Park of Nepal at an altitude of 4380m. Thousands of people trek to Gosainkunda during Janai Purnima festival in every august because it’s the holy lake for hindu pilgrims where they wash their skins. There are some other popular lakes nearby Gosainkunda such as Nagkunda, Suryakunda, Saraswotikunda and Bhairabkunda. On the way, the trail generally ascends across forest and beautiful mountains from where panoramic views can be view.

Trip Route : Kathmandu – Dhunche – Sing Gompa – Gosainkunda – Ghopte – Tharepati – Tarkeghyang – Sermanthang – Melamchi Pul Bazaar – Kathmandu.

Day 1:

Arrival in Kathmandu :

Transfer to hotel facilitated with 24 hrs running hot water with attached bathroom. Our Airport representative will be at the airport to receive you on your arrival with Himalayan Namobuddha Travel and Treks Banner. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

 

Day 2:

Sightseeing in Kathmandu valley :

The day we would explore the Kathmandu valley probably to Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swyambhunath and the places you would like to visit would be managed by Himalayan Namobuddha Travel And Trek Pvt. Ltd. Overnight in Kathmandu.

 

Day 3:

Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche :

Today, we’ll start our journey taking a drive to Dhunche, the headquarters of Rasuwa for about 8 hrs ride on a bus. Dunche is an attractive village with large stone houses. Overnight in Dhunche.

 

Day 4:

Dhunche to Sing Gompa :
Our trail begins to ascend all the way through forest of oaks, firs and rhododendrons while heading towards Sing Gompa. We’ll find a small monastery and a cheese factory in Sing Gompa. On the way, we’ll have a nice view of Langtang Himal and Langtang Valley. Overnight in Sing Gompa.
 

Day 5:

Shin Gompa to Gosainkunda :
Our trail leads to ascend through rhododendron forest and climb a wider path of alpine to arrive at Gosainkunda. There are three lakes in Gosaikunda ie. Saraswoti Kunda, Bharavi Kunda and Gosainkunda in which Gosainkunda is a main place of pilgrimage and have a religious importance of its own. We’ll explore the Gosainkund and stay overnight at teahouse in Gosainkunda.
 

Day 6:

Gosainkunda to Ghopte :
Our trail ascends through rough path and crosses moraines. We’ll cross Laurebina La and descends to Phedi. Then our trail leads up and down trek with rocky hills, pine and rhododendron forest until we’ll reach to Ghopte. Overnight in Ghopte.
 

Day 7:

Ghopte to Tharepati :
From Ghopte our trail descends along the ridge through rohododendron and juniper forest. Then we’ll ascends to stream before reaching to Tharepati which is on the lap of mountain. Overnight in Tharepati.
 

Day 8:

Tharepati to Tarkeghyang :
We’ll climb to ridge above the village and enter through forested area. Then we’ll follow Melamchi River and ascends towards Melamchi Guan. We’ll continue our trail leading to the other side of the old and typical Sherpa village, Tarkeghyang. Overnight in Tarkeghyang.
 

Day 9:

Tarkeghyang to Sermanthang :
The trail continues to the small beautiful village of Gangwal after crossing small forest behind the way. We’ll find a small monastery in Gangwal village and ahead towards another beautiful village named Sermanthang where people practice Drukpa Kagyu Buddhism as in Bhutan. Overnight in Sermanthang.
 

Day 10:

Sermanthang to Melamchi Pul Bazaar and drive back to Kathmandu :
We take a short descend walk to Melamchi Pul Bazaar with many Sherpa villages and catch our vehicles to Kathmandu. The day would be the last day of our trek. After reaching to Kathmandu, we can buy some gifts for relatives and friends or can take relax on a hotel. We’ll have evening celebration dinner at Kathmandu and stay overnight.
 

Day 11:

Departure from Kathmandu :
The last day in Nepal, at 3 hours before scheduled flight we’ll be taken up to airport by office representative of Himalayan Namobuddha Travel And Trek. It’s time to bid Nepal farewell visit and appreciate your visit to our country Nepal. And the trek would be the great lifetime memory.
