DAY 01: Arrival in Paro and Drive to Thimphu (about 1 hour)

Arrival in Paro and Drive to Thimphu (about 1 hour)
You will be taking one of the most memorable flight (about 1.15 hrs ) from Kathmandu to Thimphu enjoying window seat (almost guaranteed) that offers you beautiful view of mountains and landscapes. On arrival in Paro, you will have to complete visa formalities and then you will be received by our representative at Paro airport and then transferred to Thimphu (about 65 Km, about 1 hour drive) which is the capital of Bhutan.
After Lunch, we will visit one of the famous stupa – Memorial Chorten which was built in 1974 in the memory of Bhutan’s third King, His Late Majesty, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. After that we will take a short drive from Thimphu City Centre to visit the largest statue of Bhutan -Buddha View Point (Kuensel Phodang). After that we walk around to see the glimpse of the Thimphu Valley. Later drive down to city and visit Handicraft Market and explore the local Bhutanese market. Overnight at hotel in Thimphu.
Sightseeing of Thimphu and Transfer to Paro
After Breakfast, we drive to the Dochula Pass (3080 m) which is also known as the Druk Wangyal Chortens, offers a stunning panoramic view of Himalayan Mountain Range. Later we drive back to Thimphu and visit remaining site of Thimphu, visit Cahngkha Lhakhang, Motithang mini Zoo to see the National animal The Takin. After that we drive down to viewpoint from where we can have magnificent view of Thimphu valley, visit National Library to see the large collection of traditional books, Folk Heritage museum where you can see the typical Bhutanese house and their way of lifestyle and school of arts & crafts (Painting School). Late afternoon, we drive to Paro (about 65 km, 1 hour) and transfer to Hotel. Overnight at hotel in Paro.
Day Hike to Taktsang Monastery (TIGER NEST)
After Breakfast, we drive to base of Taktsang then we start uphill hiking to the Taktsang Monastery for about 2 /3 hours through local villages and pine forests. The monastery clings to a huge granite cliff 800 meters from the Paro valley.
Interesting Fact – It is believed that the great saint Padmasambhava came in the 7th century on a flying tigress and meditated in a cave for 3 months. The demons were subdued who were trying to stop the spread of Buddhism and turned the Paro valley into Buddhism. During the end of the 17 century a monastery was built on the spot where the saint mediated and it is believed by every Bhutanese that this pilgrimage site must be visited once in their life time.
In afternoon, if time allows, we will also visit Kyichu Lhakang and then return back to Hotel. Overnight at hotel in Paro.
Departure from Paro to Kathmandu
Today is your departure day. You will be dropped by our representative to Paro Airport 3 hours before schedule flight. It’s time to bid farewell to Bhutan.
