nepal12

Nepal is not only known for its Himalayas but also very popular for unique culture, tradition and religious festivals. There are more than 50 festivals celebrated in Nepal each year. While the national festivals have fixed dates, religious and cultural festivals are set by astrologers following the lunar calendar. The best part about the festivals in Nepal is that all the events are celebrated with the same enthusiasm and in large numbers the way it used to be hundreds of years ago when people had no other means of entertainment. Even today festivals are not only the yearly spectacles, but also are living part of rich cultural legacy. Celebrating festivals effectively unite the people having diverse cultural background together and this is also the chance of sharing their social lives. Although most of these festivals are religious some have historical significance too. Most Nepalese festivals are related to different Hindu and Buddhist gods and goddesses and they are celebrated on such days divine for them by religion and tradition.

For the Buddhists pilgrims Mani Rimdu and Dumji festivals trek in the Everest region and Tiji festival trek in Mustang have been very popular today. Festivals of Hindus are Dashain, festival of lights which is most magnificent festival, Holi, the festival of colors and main Shamanism Festival is celebrated in sacred Lake Gosainkunda of Langtang Region duringJanai Purnima in month Bhadra (August) Full moon day.  Buddhist festival treks in Nepal and gorgeous and that reward travelers with chance of observing real and ideal Tibetan Buddhist religion, culture and authentic festivals in Himalayas along with breathe taking view of snow-capped mountains. These festivals attract many western tourists and hotels and flights are sold out months in advance to organized vacationers group. Meditation

Meditation in Kathmandu (Vipassana )

VIPASSANA FOR BEGINNERS – 15 DAYS

Vipassana literally means to see the things as they are, is India’s one of the most ancient meditation techniques. It was rediscovered by Gautam Buddha some 2500 years ago and taught by him as a universal remedy of ills i.e. suffering of our life ( Art of living) . Now the technique aims for the total eradication of mental impurities to result the highest happiness and full of liberation. Healing of human suffering is the main purpose of the meditation but it is not the total cure.banner5

Vipassana is a way of self- transformaiton through self – observation which focuses on the deep interconnection between mind and body. It is the observation based, self – exploratory journey to the common root of mind and body which dissolves mental impurity and result balanced mind full of love and compassion.

From the time of Gautam Buddha, the Vipassana meditaion techniques has been handed down in a unbroken chain to the followers. Presently S.N. Goenka ( an Indian descent born in Myanmar – Burma ) who got an opportunity to learn the techniques on Vipassana meditation from his teacher U Ba Khim in Myanmar. After 14 years of deep and intensive learning he has been settled in India since then taught thousands of people Vipassana meditation of all races, religions.

This meditation is also not to cure any diseases but help to live a balanced life and k

now to control the self. The course requires hard and serious work.

The course for 10 days is divided into four notable steps where first step is, to abastain from killing, stealing, sexual activities, speaking falsely and intoxicants. This simple moral conduct serves to calm the mind.

The next step is to develop some mastery over the mind by learning to fix one’s attention on the natural reality of the ever changing flow of breath as it enters and leaves the nostrils.

By the fourth day the mind is calmer and more focused and better able to undertake the practice of Vipassana itself. Observation of body through their sensations, understanding their nature etc.
