MEDITATION FOR BEGINNERS – 15 DAYS
MEDITATION, which literally means to see the things as they are, is India’s most ancient meditation techniques. It was rediscovered by Gautam Buddha some 2500 years ago and taught by him as a universal remedy of ills i.e. suffering of our life ( Art of living). Now the technique aims for the total eradication of mental impurities to result in the highest happiness and full of liberation. Healing of human suffering is the main purpose of the meditation but it is not the total cure.
Meditation is a way of self-transformation through self-observation which focuses on the deep interconnection between mind and body. It is the observation based, self-exploratory journey to the common root of mind and body which dissolves mental impurity and results in a balanced mind full of love and compassion.
From the time of Gautam Buddha, the meditation techniques has been handed down in a unbroken chain to the followers.
This meditation is also not to cure any diseases but help to live a balanced life and know to control the self. The course requires hard and serious work.
The course for 10 days is divided into four notable steps where first step is, to abstain from killing, stealing, sexual activities, speaking falsely and intoxicants. This simple moral conduct serves to calm the mind.
The next step is to develop some mastery over the mind by learning to fix ones attention on the natural reality of the ever changing flow of breath as it enters and leaves the nostrils.
By the fourth day the mind is calmer and more focused and better able to undertake the practice of meditation itself. Observation of body through their sensations, understanding their nature etc.
Finally, you will learn the meditation of loving kindness or goodwill towards all, in which purity developed during the course.
